The Voice Worth Following

Today’s sermon, “Respect Your Elders,” brought a deeper understanding of what true leadership looks like in Christ.

An elder is not simply defined by age or title. Scripture points to something much greater. A life marked by character, humility, and faithfulness becomes the true testimony. In 1 Peter 5 and in Timothy, elders are described as steady, self-controlled, gentle, and able to guide others through example rather than force.

The image of the shepherd stood out the most.

A shepherd does not push the flock from behind. He walks ahead, and the sheep follow because they know his voice. Psalm 23 reminds us that the Lord leads beside still waters, restores the soul, and guides through both peace and difficulty with quiet assurance.

Christ is revealed as the Chief Shepherd.

He calls His own by name, leads them, and lays down His life for them. His voice remains the one that matters above all others. With so much noise surrounding daily life, discernment becomes essential. Recognizing His voice is not optional. It is the foundation.

Humility was a central thread throughout the message.

God gives grace to the humble while opposing pride. Leadership within the church is not built on status or authority. It is formed through a life that others can look to with trust. Consistency, quiet strength, and integrity carry more weight than position.

There is also a reality that cannot be ignored. Opposition exists. Distraction, doubt, and fear do not come by accident. Staying alert and grounded in faith becomes necessary, knowing that God is the one who restores, strengthens, and establishes.

Everything returns to what matters most.

Loving God fully with heart, soul, and strength

Loving your neighbor as yourself

Nothing stands above these.

The message settled into a simple but powerful direction. A life aligned with Christ requires awareness, humility, and a willingness to follow the true Shepherd with clarity and trust.🤍🕊️
